A Century Documented. A Future Commissioned.

Black History Month in the UK turns 40 in 2027.

This milestone comes at a powerful moment. It follows a century of organised Black history commemorations, from early acts of remembrance, scholarship and cultural resistance to the community-led platforms we continue to build today.

The 2027 Bristol Black History Month Archive Edition will mark this moment with care, ambition and permanence.

This is not just a magazine. It is a record of how Bristol honours Black history, celebrates Black creativity, and invests in the stories that future generations will look back on. A milestone like this deserves more than a temporary campaign. It deserves to be documented, printed, shared and preserved.

Our Target: 3,000 Pre-Orders

To honour the scale of this moment, we are committing to a 3,000-copy print run.

That means:

Households, schools, organisations and community spaces holding this edition
A physical record of Bristol’s Black History Month milestone
Direct investment into Black writers, photographers, designers and creative talent
Wider distribution into education, cultural and community spaces across the city
A stronger platform for documenting Black history, leadership and creativity in Bristol

At 3,000 copies, we can move beyond survival and into scale. We can secure production, fairly compensate contributors, expand distribution, and create a publication with the depth, quality, and reach this moment deserves.

This is not about scarcity. It is about scale.

Why Pre-Order Now

We are aiming to secure 80% of pre-orders by the end of March 2027 so we can confidently move into full production.

Every early order strengthens:

our commissioning budget
our print and production capacity
our ability to pay contributors fairly
our distribution reach
our education and community impact
our ability to document this moment properly

A century has been documented. Now the future must be commissioned. Be one of the 3,000 people, schools, businesses, institutions and organisations helping to produce this landmark edition.

Pre-order now and be part of history in the making.
